Contractor Marketing Plans

by Seth Larrabee on May 15, 2010

There's an old saying:

"Those who fail to plan, plan to fail."

Have you heard this before?

The reason I ask is mainly due to the fact that a lot of contractors I talk with are absolutely fed up with the declining sales and profits that is happening within their businesses, yet they feel like they have no control over improving their situation.

Nonetheless, when I ask them what their current contractor marketing plan looks like, they give me a blank stare and say, "What contractor marketing plan?"

Can you see the problem here?

By creating a sold marketing strategy, and writing it down into a structured, planned process for increasing sales, and profits, there is an almost immediate result, as far as improving profits for a contractor.

What exactly is a Contractor Marketing Plan?

Basically it is a written blueprint of what techniques and actions will be used to promote and market certain specific elements of your business to your target market.

The secret to a successful contractor marketing plan, is in identifying precisely how you would take a prospect / new client, and transition them into a paying customer / client.

By mapping out your plan, you will not only see higher ROI (Return On Investment) for your marketing and advertising efforts, but you will also be able to identify where the "profit leaks" in your marketing and advertising are, and stop them…

This results in less wasted marketing dollars (and time), and increased profits!

That's the simple version of creating your contractor marketing plan, but you get the idea. By creating and implementing a written marketing strategy, you will be way ahead of your competition who doesn't!

Such plans should also be put together for any marketing campaigns, advertisements, events, etc. to identify (PRIOR to the marketing effort) what steps/actions you plan to take to transition any leads generated into actual paying customers/clients.
